Though I prefer an across-the-board cut with additional spending reductions (that isn’t code for tax hikes, by the way) and entitlement reform, Senator Toomey’s new proposal has merit.
50 Years Later
While I am sure there is a role for NASA in our future of space exploration, I think we would be better of passing a law that clarifies the necessary legal matters to let private enterprise take over and get us 2,500 Americans living on the Moon by 2025.
Here’s to this being a look at our not-too-distant future.
From The Atlantic’s article The Tragedy of Sarah Palin:
“[T]o govern effectively, you have to cooperate with the other side; you sometimes must raise taxes to balance a budget”
All you have to do to stop the insults (and death threats) is do what the Democrats want, especially when it comes to raising taxes.

Today’s report of 9.0% unemployment in April ties the post-WWII record of 27 straight months with unemployment over 8%.
An overabundance of discouraged workers saved Obama from lengthening the record of 21 months at 9% or higher but now we are back. Here’s hoping it isn’t the start of another run.
So the DNC message about Governor Pawlenty is “leaving MN with a record deficit” and “his budget-busting, failed fiscal record”.
Considering Obama and the Democrats have given us consecutive years of trillion-and-a-half dollar deficits should we consider this an endorsement?

Smart Energy
Discussing the future of energy in Europe, CEO of National Grid plc Steve Holliday said:
“The grid is going to be a very different system in 2020, 2030,” he said. “We keep thinking that we want it to be there and provide power when we need it. It is going to be much smarter than that.”
So now it seems having power when we need it is dumb. I guess this makes Obama a genius after all.

How much of the captured intelligence from the Osama raid became useless following the announcement? As gratifying as it was to hear on the same day it occurred, might it have been better to wait a few weeks? Two months wouldn’t be an overly long delay.
